    Rescue Zelda

  • At the beginning of the game, Link is in his uncle's home when he hears a call for help from Zelda. Link's uncle will leave the house equiped for battle and tell Link to stay inside.
  • Get out of bed and open the chest to find the Lamp.
  • Leave the house and go north to the castle. The Castle gate will be closed and a guard will tell you to leave.
  • Follow the castle walls to the right and then north. Pick up the bush at the end of the path and fall into the hole.
  • You will find your uncle who has been injured. He will give you his sword and shield and tell you to rescue Zelda.
  • When you leave the passage you will be inside the castle gardens. From here you can enter the castle.
  • Take the stairs at the back of the first level to the first basement level.
  • Defeat the soldier to get the key to open the locked door. Look inside the treasure chest to find a map of the castle.
  • In the northwest corner of the second basement level, kill the guard to open the doors that have locked you in.
  • Enter the room to the right to get a key from the guard and the Boomerang from the chest.
  • Use the key to open the door to the north to get to the lowest basement level.
  • Defeat the enemy with the ball and chain to get the Big Key. Throwing pots at him will make the battle easier.
  • Unlock Zelda's cell and speak with her.
  • Return to the front room of the first level and Zelda will tell you to go to the throne room.
  • You will find the throne room on the second floor. Push the ornamental shelf from the left side and a passage will be revealed behind it.
  • The next area is very dark. Use your lamp on the torches to light up the area. The light will only last for a little while, however.
  • Continue through the sewers and eventually you will reach an area that is lit up. Push the center block up to get to the stairs.
  • In the second room of the 1st floor, pull the level on the right to open the door.
  • Go through the door and you will be in the sanctuary where Zelda will be safe. The priest will tell you you need the Master Sword to defeat Agahnim. He believes that the village elder may know where it is and will mark his house on your map. Take the heart container from the chest to increase your life.

    Kakariko Village

  • Leave the sanctuary and go west. Follow the signs to Kakariko Village.
  • Enter the building that's marked with an X on your map and speak to the village elder's wife. She will tell you that the elder has gone into hiding.
  • Go to the very northwest corner of the village and drop into the hole next to the cave. Inside you will find bombs. Use the bombs on the weak part of the wall in the cave to find a piece of a heart container.
  • Enter the green building next to the elder's house and use another bomb on the north wall in the basement to find another piece of a heart container.
  • Speak to the bottle merchant and give him 100 rupees for a bottle.
  • Use your last bomb on the small hut in the southwest corner to create an entrance. Inside you will find more bombs and some arrows.
  • Speak to the boy near the south part of town who is standing beside some chickens. He will tell you where the elder is hiding.
  • Near the southeast corner of the town you will find the inn. Enter the building from the back to find another bottle.
  • Speak to the sick boy in the building north of the inn and he will lend you his Bug Catching Net. You can catch bees and farries with this and store them in an empty bottle.

    East Palace

  • Leave the village through the southeast and go east, past Link's house to the place marked with an X. Sahasrahla will tell you to find the Pendant of Courage in the East Palace.
  • Go east and enter the East Palace.
  • In the first room, pick up the pot and step on the button to open the door.
  • In the next room, step on the floor tile with a dark shadow around it near the middle of the floor to open the doors.
  • Dodge the rolling balls in the next room to get to the other end.
  • At the fork, go right to get the map or go left to continue through the palace. The plates to open these doors are located behind the pots near the doors.
  • In the room where you get locked in, defeat all the skeletons to open the doors.
  • In the next room, you'll find the compass which will show the location of the boss.
  • Go across the room with the large treasure chest to the right side.
  • In the dark room, go right, then take the key from under the pot in the northeast corner. Return to the previous room and use the key to open the door on the left.
  • When you hit a dead end, kill all the enemies in the room. Kill the armored enemy by throwing a pot at him when he is moving. Pick up the pot that the skull enemies were circling about and step on the button. Take the Big Key from the chest. You can use it to open the door behind you.
  • Return to the large room with the big chest and use the Big Key to open the chest. Inside you will find the bow which you can use to kill the armored enemies. Open the door to the north.
  • On the second floor, in two of the rooms, some of the tiles with the shadows around them are fake and you need to step on the right one to open the door.
  • Use your bow and arrows to defeat the boss. It take three hits to kill each armored knight. When only one is left, it will turn red and jump straight for you. Once you have defeated it, you will receive a Heart Container and the Pendant of Courage.
  • Return to Sahasrahla and he will tell you to search for the other two pendant. He will give you the Pegasus Shoes and will give you a hint to where another item is hidden.

    Desert Palace

  • Enter the library in Kakariko Village and dash agaist the shelf holding the Book of Mudora to knock it off.
  • Get to the desert by going south from Link's house and then west.
  • Use the Book of Mudora in front of the stone block in front of the palace to open the way inside.
  • In one of the rooms in the northwest part of the first level you will see a key on one of the pillars. Dash against the pillar to knock it down.
  • Use the key to open the locked door on the far east side of the level. Dodge the cannon balls to retrieve the Big Key.
  • Go to the room in the northwest corner and use the Big Key to open the chest to get the Power Glove. With the Power Glove you will be able to pick up most rocks.
  • Leave the palace through the exit in the southwest corner of the level. If you follow the ledge south, you will find a piece of heart.
  • Behind the first entrance to the palace you will find the entrance for the next part of the palace. Lift the rocks to clear the way.
  • Push the 2nd block from the right to open the door in the first room.
  • When you reach the dead end, use the Lamp to light up all four braziers and the wall will move to reveal the entrance to the boss's room.
  • Attack the heads of each of the centipedes to kill them. When all three have been defeated, you will get a Heart Container and the Pendant of Power.

    Tower of Hera

  • Northeast of Kakariko Village you will find the entrance to death mountain. Lift the large rock out of the way so that you can enter the cave.
  • In the cave you will find an old man who will ask you to lead him out of the cave.
  • Once you find the exit from the cave and walk in front of the old man's home, he will give you the magic mirror and will leave you.
  • Climb up as high as you can on Death Mountain and step on the teleporter to be warp to the Dark World.
  • Without the moon pearl, you will be a rabbit while you are in the Dark World. Use the Magic Mirror just to the west of where you appeared so that you appear on top of spectacle rock next to the heart piece.
  • Fall off the north end of Spectacle Rock and enter the Tower of Hera.
  • Throughout the tower, either the red blocks will be up and the blue blocks down or the red will be down and the blue up. Hit any crystal with one of your weapons to switch.
  • Take the stairs on the left and you'll find a key.
  • Use the key to open the door in the top-left corner of the 2nd floor and descend to the 1st floor.
  • Once all the tiles in this room have attacked you, the door will open.
  • Light up all the torches at the same time in the third room and a chest containing the Big Key will appear.
  • On the third floor, step on the star tile to change the locations of the pits so that you can get to the door.
  • On the fifth floor, step on the star tile on the west side of the floor. Fall in the new hole in the center of the level near the top so that you can get the Moon Pearl in the big chest on the floor below you.
  • Climb to the top floor and fight the giant centipede. Hit his tail to inflict damage. If you fall off the edge, you will need to fight him all over again.
  • Once you have defeated the enemy, you will receive another heart container and the Pendant of Wisdom.

    Hyrule Castle

  • On the west side of Death Mountain, you will find a cave that leads back down.
  • Enter the Lost Woods and go to the northwest corner. With all three pendants, you'll be able to take the Master Sword.
  • When you leave the glade, Zelda will tell you that soldiers are coming to the sanctuary.
  • Hurry to the Sanctuary. The priest will tell you that soldiers took Zelda to the castle before he passes away.
  • Enter the castle and climb up onto the walls. Use your sword to break the barrier in front of the door and reenter the castle.
  • Climb up the castle tower to the 7th floor. There you will watch Agahnim send Zelda to the Dark World and the seal of the seven wise men will be broken.
  • Go to the back of the room and sweep away the curtains with your sword.
  • You will have to fight Agahnim on the balcony. You can not hurt the wizard directly, but hit the magic he throws at you with your sword to rebound it back to him.
  • Once you have defeated the wizard, he will draw you into the Dark World.

    Palace of Darkness

  • You will arrive in the Dark World on the top of the pyramid.
  • Climb down the pyramid and go east toward the Palace of Darkness which is marked on your map.
  • To get to the Palace, you need to find your way through the hedge maze. There is an arrow on the ground which points toward the entrance. If you look closely at the hedges, you should see the paths through them.
  • Inside one of the hedges, you will be joined by a monkey named Kiki. Give him 10 Rupees so that he continues to follow you.
  • When you approach the Palace entrance, Kiki will offer to open it for you for 100 Rupees.
  • Descend down the stairs on the left to find the key for the center doorway.
  • In the next room, push the block off the bridge on the right side and follow the block over the side where you will be able to find a key. Step on the teleporter to leave that area.
  • Return to that room again and place a bomb on the cracked spot on the left bridge. Drop into the hole you created and use the key to open the locked door so that you can get the Big Key.
  • Return again to the same room and cross the right bridge.
  • Go to the northwest corner of the level, to the dark room west of the room with the collapsing bridge and bomb a hole in the east wall to get to the chest which holds the Magic Hammer.
  • In one of the rooms on the right side, a switch will open the door, but as soon as you step off the switch the door will close again. Push the nearest statue onto the button so that the door stays open.
  • In the room after that, shoot the statue in the eye with an arrow to reveal a new passageway.
  • Use your hammer on the moles in the basement to get by them.
  • To kill the turtles, hit the floor with the hammer near one and they will flip over. Hit them again with the hammer or with your sword while they are on their back to kill them.
  • When you get to the boss, hit his mask several times with the hammer to destroy it. Once his mask is off, you can kill him with your sword.
  • After the boss has been defeated, you will receive a crystal with the first maiden trapped inside. She will tell you the locations of the other girls.

    Swamp Palace

  • Go to the Swamp Palace in the Dark World and use the Magic Mirror just outside to return to the Light World.
  • Enter the ruins and pull the lever on the right in the second room to release the water.
  • Return through the portal to the Dark World and the water will be drained here as well.
  • Enter the Swamp Palace and you will be able to swim to the platform on the left. Note that you need the flippers to complete this area.
  • Eventually you will find a switch blocked by moles. Use the hammer to knock down the moles and then push the switch from the right to release the water.
  • You'll find a similar switch in the room northwest of the room with the big chest. Make sure you leave the blue blocks up.
  • When you reach the far west end of the level, climb up to the 1st floor and fall in the hole in the northeast corner and you'll be able to get the Big Key.
  • Return to the central room with the big chest and take the Hook Shot from it.
  • From the big chest platform, use the Hook Shot to get over to the right platform to find a key, then stand behind the big chest and use the Hook Shot to get to the platform to the north so that you can continue through the dungeon.
  • Push the statue on top of the button in the next room and go through the doorway on the right side of the room.
  • Push the switch to drain the water so that you can continue.
  • In the room with several small waterfalls, walk through the second water fall from the right to continue through the dungeon.
  • To defeat the enemy, use your Hook Shot to grab the orbs around the enemy's body and destroy them with your sword. Once they are gone, attack the enemy with your sword as it moves around the room to destroy it. You will receive another heart container and the 2nd crystal.

    Skull Dungeon

  • Although the dungeon in the Skeleton Forest is supposed to be next, if you do the forth dungeon first, you can upgrade your sword which will make this dungeon easier.
  • Enter the Skeleton Forest north of the Village of Outcasts. To get there, go east from the pyramid in the center of the Dark World and then north along the river. A little ways down you will be able to cross the river using your hookshot. From there, you can proceed west to the Skeleton Forest. Another way to get there is to go through a portal to the Dark World which is hidden under a stone north of the village.
  • Enter the second dungeon entrance from the right. The first room should have two statues, three pots, and exits on the west and north sides of the room.
  • A button is under the middle pot. Pull the statue over the button from above so that you can enter the room to the north when the door opens.
  • In the next room you will find the Big Key.
  • Leave the dungeon. Go to the dungeon entrance to the right and behind it you will see nine bushes. Fall into the hole under the middle bush.
  • Step on the first star tiles and then go west by blowing up a hole in the wall.
  • Pull the lever on the wall and take the Fire Rod from the big chest.
  • Leave the dungeon and return to the first dungeon entrance.
  • Go left two rooms and exit the dungeon.
  • Use the Firerod on the skeleton to open the final dungeon entrance.
  • In the room with the holes and star tiles, step on the star tiles in this order: south, center, southwest, mid-northeast, northeast.
  • In the next room, use the Firerod to quickly light all four torches and then hurry to the door before it closes.
  • Sweep away the vines on the north wall with your sword to reveal the passage to the next room.
  • Drop into the hole at the dead end to fight the boss.
  • Either attack the boss with your sword or with the Firerod to defeat it. You will receive another Heart Container and a crystal.

    Blind's Hideout

  • Pull on the pitchfork of the gargoyle in the center of the Village of Outcasts to open the door to the fourth dungeon.
  • From the first room go up, then right, the down. In the bottom left corner of this room, go left to the first room on the lower level to find the Big Key.
  • In the top right hand corner of the four rooms you will find a door that requires the big key to continue into the dungeon.
  • In the northwest corner of this floor you will find the stairs that go up to the top floor.
  • In the room on the far right side of this floor, throw a bomb onto the weak floor that has light shining on it. The light will now shine through to the room below you.
  • Return to the 1st basement level, go two rooms to the right and descend to the second basement level.
  • Speak to the girl imprisoned on the east side of this floor and she will ask you to take her outside. Take the key from the chest.
  • In the southwest corner of this floor you will find the Titan's Mitt. With this, you can lift any rock.
  • Return to the 1st basement level and go east, then north.
  • Lead the girl into the light and she will be revealed as Blind the Thief, the boss of the dungeon.
  • Hit Blind's head three times and it will start flying around the room. Eventually the body will rise up again a new head will form. Hit this new head three times and it too will start flying around the room. Hit the third head that forms three times and Blind will be defeated. You will receive a Heart Container and another crystal.
  • Just south of the village, you will find a rabbit blocked by rocks. Move the rocks and speak with him. Lead him to his parter in the Light World and they will temper you weapon to make it more powerful.

    Ice Palace

  • Go to Lake Hylia in the Light World and pick up the heavy rock just in front of the entrance to the Pond of Happiness. Step on the portal to go to the Dark World and enter the Ice Palace.
  • Step in front of the ice monster on the left and kill it with the Firerod to open the door.
  • Go to the north room on the 1st basement level and throw a bomb into the center to open a hole to the lower level. Put a bomb by the crystal and then quickly go to the top part of the room before it explodes so that you will be able to fall into the hole.
  • Hit the skeletons with your sword then blow them up with a bomb to destroy them.
  • Enter the north-most room of the 3rd basement level and fall to the level below.
  • Go right, then down, then take the stairs back up to the 3rd basement level.
  • Continue up to the 2nd basement level and pull the statue's tongue to open the door.
  • On the 1st Basement level, you'll find the Big Key.
  • Go to the west-most room on the 3rd basement level and descend to the 4th level. Place a bomb on the weak floor on the west side of the room. Drop into the hole and take the Blue Mail from the chest.
  • Go north from the next room and then descend to the 6th level.
  • In the second room go east and hit the crystal to make all the blue blocks go down.
  • Return to the 5th level and go all the way around through the 4th level back to the west side of the 5th level.
  • In the room where you are blocked by red blocks, push the lower ice block into the hole and follow the block down.
  • Push the block onto the button to keep the south door open.
  • In the next room, pull one of the statues away and then lift up the big block to reveal a hole to the boss.
  • Use your Firerod on the enemy to melt the ice block that's protecting it. Then kill the three cloud enemies with your sword.

    Misery Mire

  • If you haven't got the magic of Ether yet, read the Book of Mudura in front of the monument west of the Tower of Hera.
  • Blow the flute in the Light World and go to location 6. Pick up the rock and step on the teleporter to the Dark World. You will arrive in the Swamp of Evil.
  • Cast Ether on the Ether tile near the center of the swamp to stop the rain and reveal the entrance to the dungeon.
  • In the large room near the entrance, go through the door in the northeast corner and keep going north until you find the key in the chest.
  • Return to the large room and open the door in the southwest corner.
  • One of the enemies will have a key that will allow you to go through the west door.
  • Go south and climb up the stairs.
  • In the next two rooms, for each row of three blocks, push the top and bottom blocks forward and the middle block down so that you can get to the torches. Quickly light all four torches in both rooms and the wall in the next room will move.
  • Go to the next room and drop in the hole and you'll be able to get the Big Key.
  • Return to the large room near the beginning of the dungeon again and go through the south-most door on the eastern side.
  • Continue east and get onto the bridge as quickly as you can before it starts to collapse. Take the Cane of Somaria from the big chest.
  • From the big chest go west, then north twice, then west again. Open the door with the big key and descend to the lower level.
  • At the bottom of the stairs, use the Cane of Somaria to create a block on top of the button so that the door will stay open.
  • In the third room of this level, hit the crystal near the north end so that it is red.
  • In the next room, use a bomb to blow open a hole in the north wall and hit the crystal there so that you can proceed.
  • When you are fighting the boss, destroy the eyes that come out at you. Once all the small eyes are dead, the big eye will start charging toward you. Once you have defeated the big eye, you will receive another heart container and the crystal.

    Turtle Rock

  • Before you go to Turtle Rock, go to the bomb shop south of the pyramid and buy the super bomb. Drag the bomb behind you and go to the pyramid. Press the A button when you are in front of the large plate with the crack in it on the pyramid and the bomb will blow open a hole. Throw your sword into the water and the faerie will power it up. Also throw your bow and arrows in and she will give you the silver arrows which you need to kill Ganon.
  • To get to the last palace on Turtle Rock, use the flute to get to Death Mountain in the Light World and make your way to the northeast corner of the mountain.
  • On Turtle Rock, hammer the east post, then the north post, and finally the west post and a portal to the dark world will appear.
  • In the Dark World, cast Quake on the Quake tile to open the entrance into the dungeon.
  • Use the Cane of Somaria on the question mark to create a tile that you can use to follow the line across the chasm.
  • In the next room, go through the north door on the east side of the area. Light the four torches with the Firerod as you pass by them and then quickly go through the open door. At the end of the next room you will find a key and the map.
  • Go to the northwest corner of the large center room and defeat the bouncing enemy for another key.
  • In the next room, hit the crystal from a distance so that it is blue and push the top block on the left side to reveal a chest containing a key. Open the door and descend to the next level.
  • On the next floor, enter the pipe from the bottom-right corner of the room.
  • Enter the lower pipe in the next room. Go through the room at the other end of the pipe and you'll be able to get the Big Key from the chest.
  • Return to the 1st large room and then go to the second large one. Enter the top pipe this time and go south, then west.
  • Place a bomb on the south wall and go through the passageway. Use the Cane of Somaria on the other side of the passageway to get to the Mirror Shield. This shield will reflect laser beams.
  • Go north from the big chest to get to the next level.
  • Find your way to the center of the next area and step on the button to open the door. Go to the southwest corner of the room to get to the next room. (Tip: Shoot your Hook Shot just before the fire hits you and you will not get hurt.)
  • If you have the Mirror Shield, you'll be able to get the key from a chest in the south-most room.
  • Descend to the lowest level so that you can fight the boss.
  • Use the Icerod to stun the blue head so you can hit it with your sword and use the Firerod to stun the blue head and destroy that one with your sword as well. Hit the blinking part of the boss several times to destroy it and you will free Zelda.

    Ganon's Tower

  • Go west from Turtle Rock to Ganon's Tower. The seven maidens will use their power to break Ganon's seal so that you may enter the tower.
  • Descend to the 1st floor using the stairs on the left. Knock the key off the pillar and go left.
  • Knock down the moles using your hammer and then push the middle block. Underneath is a star tile which will allow you to get to the door on the left.
  • Use your Hook Shot to get to the south end of the next room. Hit the crystal to make it blue, set a bomb, and quickly pass over the blue blocks before they pop back up again.
  • In the next room, place a bomb next to the crystal on the left and hurry across the red blocks before they pop up. If you place the bomb too close to the crystals, they will both trigger and the the crystals will stay red.
  • In the room at the other end of the teleporter, push the block standing by itself near the west side of the area to make a treasure chest appear and use your Hook Shot to get over the chasm.
  • Step on the right teleporter, then on the one below you, then the one on the bottom-left corner of the room. After two more teleporters, you'll be out of those rooms.
  • In the next room, go to the northwest corner of the room and use the Firerod on the torch to the right. Hurry across the bridge that appears before the torch goes out and you can no longer see the bridge.
  • Place a bomb in the bottom-right corner of the room and fall into the hole to the basement.
  • Defeat the knights with your bow and silver arrows. It will be trickier to beat them than the first time because the floor is all ice, but with the Silver Arrows, they will die with one hit. Take the Big Key from the chest in the room to the north.
  • Ascend to the 1st floor and take the Red Mail from the chest.
  • Return to the 2nd floor and then climb up to the 3rd.
  • Push the block in the northwest corner of the 1st room to open the door.
  • In the 4th room, the button to open the door is underneath the middle skull below.
  • At the end of the 4th floor, you will have to fight the boss from the Desert Palace again. With the most powerful sword, however, two hits will kill each of the worms.
  • Cast Ether and the bridge in the 1st room will flash, or try to find it by trial and error. Defeat the three wizards and the door will open.
  • In the room with the four torches and the spinning flames, pick up all the skulls so that the torches aren't blocked, light all four torches with the Firerod, and quickly run to the exit before the door closes.
  • On the 6th floor, light all four torches in the 1st room to open the door.
  • In the third room, use a bomb and quickly throw it against the wall so that it is carried to the left and will blow up at the right time.
  • At the end of this floor, you will have to fight the boss from the Tower of Hera again. Try not to get knocked off the side.
  • Use your Hook Shot to get over to the chest that just appeared and go to the top floor.
  • Use the same technique to defeat Agahnim as in your previous battle. Deflect the beams so that they hit the real wizard and not the images.
  • Once you have defeated Agahnim, Ganon will leave the wizard's body, turn into a bat, and fly to the pyramid. Link will use the flute and follow him.

    Pyramid

  • Fall into the pit in the pyramid to confront Ganon.
  • Attack Ganon with your sword as much as you can. His attacks will change as you hurt him. First he will throw his pitchfork at you, then he will surround himself with a ring of flames which will turn into bats and fly at you. After that he will stomp on the ground and tiles around the wall will fall away. If you fall in the space there, you will have to start the battle all over again.
  • After you have hurt Ganon enough, he will begin his secret technique of darkness. Light both of the torches and the light will temporarily blind him. Hit him with you sword while both torches are lit to stun him and then hit him with three Silver Arrows to finish him off.
  • Step into the next room and you will receive the Triforce. Peace will return to Hyrule.
