Chapter 1 - Into a Dark Night
  • When the story begins, Owyn, from Tiburn, is tending Seigneur Locklear's wounds. Gorath suddenly shouts as a assassin jumps into the camp. Gorath dispatches the assassin and the adventure begins.
  • Click on the assassin's body and take his rations and picklocks.
  • After you take a few steps, a dialog will start. Locklear will remove Gorath's chains and they will force Owyn to come with them so that he doesn't talk.
  • There are many ways that you can take to get to Krondor. For this walkthrough, I will describe the shortest and easiest way.
  • Head south. Beside the path you will see a moredhel box. Gorath will translate the inscription and you will have to answer a riddle to open the box. Turn the dials so that they read DIE and the box will open. Inside you will find a sword and some armor.
  • Continue south and Squire Philip will approach. Owyn will converse with him for a little while and then you will be able to ask him some questions about the area.
  • Continue south and enter the town of LaMut. You can buy and/or sell some equipment in the shop and sleep at the inn. If you go to the barracks, you will be told about a stolen ruby. This is a subquest and the walkthrough for it is below.
  • When you leave LaMut and continue south you will attacked by another assassin. If you click on him before the battle starts, you may get the initiative in the battle.
  • Continue south past Zun. When you reach the fork, continue south to take the quickest and safest route back to Krondor.
  • Just past the fork you will run into a trap. You must make it to the far side of the screen without walking between any orbs of the same color.
  • Continue south and just past Questor's View you will come across a farmer named Rowe who will offer you shelter from the coming storm in his barn for a price. Decline his offer.
  • Continue southeast until you reach Sarth. Speak to Brother Marc in a field just past Sarth. He will offer to teach Owyn Spellcasting and will tell you that his dreams have been interrupted because some spellcaster is doing a dream sending.
  • To the south is the Temple of Sung. The high priestess will be suffering from a lack of sleep and none of the priests will be able to heal you are bless your equipment because some spellcaster nearby is doing dream sendings.
  • To the southeast you will see Rowe's barn. Click on it and you will be attacked by a powerful Moredhel spellcaster and three moredhel warriors.
  • After you defeat the spellcaster return to the temple and the priestess will teach Owyn the spell of Hocho's Haven as thanks for defeating the spellcaster.
  • Continue south past several enemies and enter the city of Krondor.
  • Visit the palace and you will discover that the gates won't open and the Seigneur James is missing.
  • Enter the sewers below the city. You will be confronted by a thief named Limm but will be allowed to pass.
  • Go left and then north at the next fork. Eventually you will be attacked by three Nighthawks.
  • Enter the passage north of the Nighthawks to meet Seigneur James. He will give you the Royal Key of Krondor.
  • Most of the locks on the grates at the top of the ladders are broken, but there is one good one near the top-right area of the sewers. Use the Royal Key of Krondor to enter the Palace.

Chapter 2 - Shadow of the Nighthawks
  • Leave the palace through the sewers and leave through the exit in the south. Owyn will join your party before you leave.
  • Head east through Darkmoor and Maloc's Cross. You will be ambushed several times by Nighthawks along the way.
  • In Maloc's Cross you can learn about Lysle Rigger who is hiding in the barn in Darkmoor. He looks identical to James.
  • Continue northeast toward Lyton, but go west before you reach it.
  • Off to the west, near Sethanon, you will meet Nia in the Six Toe Tavern who will ask for your help. See below for a walkthrough for this sub-quest. It is worth doing because she will reward you with a Galon 'Griefmaker'.
  • Between Nia's Tavern and Lyton, you will find Max Feeber's farmstead. Inside the barn are four Glazer's Guild Seals. Take one because you will need it later.
  • Continue through Lyton to Silden. Just before you reach Silden, some rogues will throw some diseased mulch at you and attack you.
  • Enter Silden and speak to the innkeeper. He will tell you to keep away because you are sick. Visit the docks and the Mist Devil will sail you to the Isle of Eortis. Speak to Beyla the high priestess and you will be healed. Take the Mist Devil back to Silden.
  • Follow the river north through Sloop to Romney. Just west of Romney you will find a strange house behind a hill. Behind the house is a chest containing a spell, some gold, and a Rapier with a #3 Bless type.
  • Just before the bridge to Romney you be challenged by Mitchel Waylander. If you have a Glazer's Guild Seal from Max Feeber's barn you will be allowed to pass.
  • Enter Romney and go the Black Sheep Tavern. All the king's men will be dead.

Chapter 3 - The Spyglass and the Spider
  • Enter The Black Sheep Tavern and speak to Jason to get some clues about the murders.
  • Go southwest to Sloop and enter the Upturned Keg. The man there will tell you about the substance that was put in the ale that makes men keep drinking until they are drunk. He will also tell you that the man who ordered it was Mitchel Waylander.
  • Go to the house at the west end of town where you will be attacked by five Nighthawks. Click on the house after the battle to speak to Mitchel Waylander. He will thank you for rescuing him and will tell you what he knows about the brass Spyglass.
  • Go south to Silden and speak to Joftaz in the Inn. He will agree to tell you what he knows about the spyglass and the spider if you retrieve a bag that was stolen from him by the Crawler.
  • The Crawler's house is next to the inn in Silden. Enter it to find Jaftaz's bag.
  • Return the bag to Jaftaz and he will tell you that he sold the spider to a nighthawk who took the ship the Mocker's Folly to Krondor. He will recommend that you talk to Abuk to learn more about the spyglass.
  • If you follow the spider trail to Krondor you will discover that the Upright Man has been murdered, but you will be no closer to the Nighthawk's headquarters. You must follow the spyglass trail to finish the chapter.
  • Speak to Abuk west of Silden and he will tell you that the items that disappear at Prank's Stone appear in a chest west of Silden.
  • Go back east toward Silden and behind a large hill you will find three moredhel boxes. Use the key THORN to open one of the boxes and take the note that is inside. The note mentions someone from Cavall Keep.
  • Travel north past Romney and through Prank's Stone. Past the temple you will see a path to the west that leads to a Waterfall. Behind it you will see a chess board that is missing a knight piece.
  • Continue north to the large wooded area and go east. In a barn you will be attacked by a group of moredhel warriors. One of them carries a note which will reveal to you a connection between the moredhel and the nighthawks.
  • Go west from there and speak to the farmer in his house.
  • Continue west and see the ruins of Cavall Keep.
  • North of the ruins and east of the town of Cavall Keep you will find a chest behind a hill. Inside is a message from Count Corvalis to the High Priest of Kahooli in which he asks them to drive Navon Du Sandau mad.
  • Go west into the town and speak to Count Corvalis in his townhouse. He will tell you that the keep burned down. Confront him with the message you found in the chest and he will admit his dislike of Navon.
  • Leave the town and just to the northeast you will come across Ugyne Corvalis, the Count's daughter. She will talk to you about her two suitors; Navon in particular. She will also tell you some of her family's history including her brother Neville's death, the brass spyglass, and the legendary sword - the Guarda Revanche.
  • Return to the town and speak to Peter the Grey in the Inn. He will tell you more about Neville's death and where to find Navon.
  • Go north to Kenting Rush. Look in the well near the south side of the town to find the Knight's Piece. You need to have a virtue key to get it.
  • You will find Navon Du Sandau near the center of the town. He will tell you his side of the story and his suspicions that the count may have wanted the cellar to collapse on his son.
  • There are two ways you can reveal Navon's true identity as the leader of the Nighthawks:
    • Go north to the Temple of Kahooli and ask the lector for the identity of the leader of the Nighthawks. He will not tell you anything until you become protectors of the faith. Speak to the Prelate east of the temple to learn more about the order. Drop all your rations and sleep for a night. Return to the temple and the lector will make you protectors of the faith and will ask you to kill Navon Du Sandau, the leader of the Nighthawks. Confront Navon and kill him.
    • Return back south to the waterfall and use the Knight Piece to enter a cavern behind it. In a room near the east side of the cave with two chest, use the key ROPE to open the lower chest and take the Abbot's Journal from inside. Leave the cave and return to Navon in Kenting Rush. He will reveal himself as Neville, the son of Count Corvalis, and the leader of the Nighthawks.
  • Take the Cellar Key from Navon's body.
  • Go south and enter the cave behind the waterfall using the Knight Piece. The fact that this cave is swarming with Nighthawks and Black Slayers marks it as the Nighthawks' hideout. Use the Cellar Key to open a locked door south of the room on the far east side of the cave. Use the password DARKNESS to open the chest and you will find the Moredhel's battle plans inside.

Chapter 4 - Marked for Death

  • Sar-Sargoth is surrounded by many enemies so you will have to fight quite a few battles to escape.
  • Go southwest past Harlech and Armengar to the Inclindel Pass. Your way will be blocked by soldiers before the bridge, though. You have two options. You can fight them or you can find out the password.
  • To find out the password, first visit Gorath's wife, Cullich, a ways south from Caern. She will teach Owyn the spell "And the Light Shall Lie", which will make Owyn look like a Moredhel.
  • Approach the town of Harlech to the west and cast "And the Light Shall Lie" to get past the soldiers. Speak to Moraeulf and he will give you the password.
  • Return to the bridge and give the soldiers the password. You will be allowed to pass but will have to fight enemies on the other side of the pass.
  • Finn will appear and will escort you to Prince Arutha.
